Welcome to Yew Chung International School of Qingdao (YCIS Qingdao) website.

It is with great pleasure that we are able to share with you the unique features of our school. YCIS Qingdao is the newest school to be added to the Yew Chung system of international schools and opened in September 2006 in the Huangdao District of Qingdao.

We offer classes from Early Childhood Education, through Primary and up to Year 9 in the Secondary Section on our Qingdao Campus and offer classes from Year 1 to Year 12 on our Huangdao Campus. Our first three students to complete the International General Certificate of Secondary Education ( IGCSE) obtained excellent results with a 100 per cent pass rate in all subjects, with an impressive four grade A*s, and five grade As across the board.

The distinctive nature of our school lies in the strength of the bilingual curriculum we offer. Students experience Eastern and Western ideals through our curriculum, which combines the framework of the National Curriculum for England with our own highly refined Chinese Language and Culture curriculum. Highly qualified and experienced teachers deliver the curriculum throughout the school. In the Early Childhood Education and Primary Sections, teachers utilise a co-teaching approach with a Chinese teacher and a Western teacher working collaboratively in each classroom.

In addition to the academic programme of the school, YCIS Qingdao provides numerous opportunities for students to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music programmes and after-school elective programmes.
