We are pleased to offer our Extra-curricular Activities (ECA) programme this semester. Our weekly programme gives students a chance to learn something outside of the classroom or explore other interests they may have with one of our teaching staff or trained specialists leading the activity or club. Staff form a selection of indoor and outdoor activities for Primary and Secondary students to select from.
Sports-based pastimes can be ping-pong, tennis, soccer, badminton and ultimate Frisbee; geared to improve co-ordination and develop speed, agility and sports endurance. For those who enjoy arts and crafts there are such opportunities; for example using clay to make 3D models, which is aimed at Primary children developing the ability of sculpting. Alternatively, students can create necklaces, bracelets and mobile phone pendants from beads. Traditional Chinese painting is also available.
Model United Nations (MUN) is added to the selection; students have the opportunity to develop their skills in debating and awareness of international current affairs. Students will bring their own research materials and resources thus being guided as to how they can work within the MUN format.
The cooking of international dishes from around the world is always a popular and fun activity; the reading club or being a member of the Yearbook team are further opportunities for children of different ages.
If a student would like to expand their access to music they may join the orchestra, attend the additional violin ensemble or choir. A new club has been created for this season, learning to play the ukulele. Our activities are predominantly led by YCIS Qingdao teachers, however, in order to deepen the quality selection, we hire experts to attend on campus. Such activities as ballet, and Latin dance are professionally delivered.
Our ECA continues to grow each year and brings an added hour to the school day.
