Student Council

We encourage our Secondary students to take roles of responsibility as they progress through this section of the school. By volunteering many gain a position on the Student Council. Recently they have taken the initiative and lead in charitable efforts.

Student Council members met to discuss ways to continue to raise funds for Seeds of Hope, Yew Chung’s charity seeking to build Seeds of Hope Schools in rural China for local underprivileged children. By popular vote they chose Pancake Breakfast Sales and a Bring and Buy sale. With the great support of YCIS Qingdao parents a generous quantity of homemade pancakes were ready to be served and sold by our students. Topped with dripping tasty sauces they were very popular! Teamwork was needed to keep up the service. Well done!

Over a few days in February students and parents collected secondhand goods--books, DVDs, toys and household items for example. The Student Council arranged all items by price and category for the sale day on Tuesday February 21. During the students’ break times the stalls were open for sales and the children spent their pocket money on the goods.

As the academic year proceeds we continue to contribute towards the Seeds of Hope project target. Well done to the Student Council for their strong sense of responsibility and organisational skills.
