YCIS Qingdao Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Yew Chung International School has dedicated to providing a well-rounded and balanced education for the past 86 years. Spiritual development is part of the holistic education, nurturing students heart and developing their minds.

Last week, the primary student choir from Yew Chung International School of Qingdao was invited to attend the first Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Huangdao at Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach Hotel.

The Christmas season in Huangdao started by our YCIS Qingdao talented Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students singing a selection of famous Christmas Carols. Our students also showed calmness and maturity and proudly represented the school. Being part of the choir helps students to improve their music appreciation skills, as well as the sensitivity of the pitch and the tones. The accurate understanding of the rhythm improves the students essential music skills. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the concert and demanded an encore, which our students duly gave.

This wonderful evening saw our school community coming together to celebrate our students’ talents, our cultural diversity, and help students develop into compassionate and responsible individual which is the core purpose of YCIS education – character education. It is not just charity but about educating students through different and exciting projects.

After a warm welcome speech from the hotel General Manager and our Co-Principals, Mr O’ Connor and Ms Ma, the countdown began to light up the tallest Christmas tree in Huangdao. Guests were invited to taste a large chocolate Christmas Log Cake baked by the hotel’s chef to close the evening.

YCIS Qingdao would like to thank all our parents for their support and would like to wish all our families a Merry Christmas!
