At YCIS Qingdao, learning lives in every curious question, every hands-on experiment, and every encounter with the wider world. The recent learning journeys of our Year 6 students have brought this belief to life in the most vibrant and heartwarming ways.
Our Year 6 students stepped outside the school gates and embarked on a series of immersive study trips filled with discovery and joy.
From the lively splashes and laughter by the pool at the Mangrove Hotel, to the beaming smiles captured in the German-style town, and their wide-eyed wonder around the underwater filming studio at the Oriental Movie Metropolis – every moment was a treasure.
One particularly memorable highlight took place in the foley studio, where the children’s faces lit up as they uncovered the magic behind movie sound effects, realising that thunder and rain could be created right before their eyes using simple handmade props.
What stood out even more was how the children looked out for one another, followed guidelines, and embraced both the fun and the learning wholeheartedly. It was a journey that brought education to life in ways no traditional lesson ever could.
During the primary Good Work assembly, our Year 6 students stepped confidently onto the stage, transitioning from learners to leaders.
They took on the role of educators, sharing their knowledge about the solar system and the wisdom behind the 24 Solar Terms with the younger students.
The students’ self-made videos on the Solar Terms were both creative and engaging, but it was the interactive solar system quiz that truly brought the assembly to life. Eager hands shot up across the hall as the younger children excitedly participated.
Through this student-led session, our Year 6s successfully sparked a school-wide curiosity about the wonders of the universe.
At YCIS Qingdao, we deeply value our partnership with parents. The Year 6 Celebration of Learning was a beautiful example of this collaboration in action.
During the event, parents became more than just visitors – they became classmates. Together with their children, they drew planetary pictures, played word games, built paper rockets, and took on fun digital challenges.
Through these hands-on activities, parents gained genuine insight into their children’s daily learning experiences.
It was a meaningful “learning together” moment that strengthened the bond between school and home in a truly special way.
From exploring beyond campus, to leading on stage, to sharing their learning with families, our students have demonstrated remarkable growth – not only in knowledge, but in character, confidence, and capability.
We are committed to providing diverse and meaningful learning experiences like these, helping every child find their own light and grow into curious, compassionate, and globally-minded lifelong learners.
