    • ECE Christmas Concert

Christmas is around the corner. The YCIS Qingdao community has prepared for this wonderful new year. We have enjoyed Christmas activities starting with the YCIS Qingdao ECE Christmas concert. Children develop self-confidence as they muster up the courage to perform on stage. Development in the performing arts is an important learning area in the Early Years programme as it can greatly benefit childrens’ cognitive development, language skills, gross and fine motor skill acquisition, and social and emotional skillsthrough singing, dancing, role playing and imagination.

      All School Christmas Concert

Our YCIS students took the stage for the annual Christmas concert on Friday, December 14th. The students showcased their musical learning in many different groups from choirs to the orchestra to speeches to small ensembles.

All students showed massive music growth throughout the process of making the concert come to life. The spirit of learning and creation was alive as our students performed and demonstrated how far they had come.

At YCIS, we are beginning to change the conversation from thinking of character building as a “trait” to more of a “skill” that can be learnt, developed, and put into practice. Music is a skill which is inspirational and helps to raise globally competent and compassionate leaders.

Reading – Martin Luther King’s ‘I Still Have a Dream’ from Luke Garner

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live up to the true meaning of its creed:“We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal…I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character” (Martin Luther King, Jr)

Everyone from the YCIS Qingdao community has been involved in the Christmas concert, showing their talents and teamwork. The school not only values students’ character education but also their individual differences. At YCIS, we believe every student is unique, so we are continually giving them opportunities to showcase their talents through assemblies and other school-wide activities.
