    • YCIS Qingdao celebrated Founder’s Day across the many schools within Yew Chung Education Foundation on Friday, 12th of October. It was a fun-filled day honouring our founder – Madam Tsang Chor-hang.

The day started with the exciting group YCIS photo which had been part of YCIS Qingdao tradition. The teamwork activities on Founder’s Day build students’ cooperation spirit and sense of school belongings. YCIS Qingdao enjoyed this chance to bring our school community together in celebration. Each year we have different activities throughout ECE to Secondary students that focus on sport and allows our students to enjoy House competitions and develop leadership skills.

Meanwhile, renowned pioneer in education, Dr Betty Chan Po-king, CEO and School Supervisor of Yew Chung International Schools (YCIS) and Yew Wah International Education Schools (YWIES), visited Shanghai to celebrate two major milestones: 25th anniversary of the establishment of YCIS Shanghai, the city’s oldest privately operated international schools, as well as the recent establishment of the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) in Hong Kong, the first ever specialist early childhood education tertiary institution in Asia.

      Dr. Chan’s speech:

“I am very glad we keep my mother’s vision of importance of Early Childhood Education. We established the Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education in Hong Kong, Asia’s first ever specialist college in Early Childhood Education, offering a four-year honours bachelor’s degree programme. By providing quality training for Early Childhood Education teachers, we are planting the first seed in the lives of the next generation. We have therefore come full circle, with Yew Chung and Yew Wah providing education from ‘B to B’, from Baby to Bachelor”

Also, every Founder’s Day, students from Yew Chung and Yew Wah campuses in Hong Kong, Beijing, Chongqing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Tongxiang, Lingang, and Silicon Valley in the US joined via a live video link to greet each other.

It was certainly a fantastic learning experience for students to celebrate the 86th anniversary of Yew Chung. We would like to give thanks to all of our students, teachers, and administrators for making the Founder’s Day a great success!
