Out of the many international schools in China, there is only a limited number of international schools to hold the prestigious joint accreditations through Council of International Schools (CIS), New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and National Centre for School Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT). We are the only international school in Qingdao that has been accredited by all three agencies.

Accreditation is a long process that takes a minimum of three years of review in order to meet compliance on international education standards of:

Accreditation Bodies

CIS – The Council of International Schools is the premier organisation in international education for the accreditation of schools and best practice development. CIS is a not-for-profit organisation of a truly worldwide international educational community comprising over 650 member schools and 450 colleges/universities. Website www.cois.org

NEASC – The New England Association of Schools and Colleges provides accreditation services for more than 2,000 public and private institutions from pre-kindergarten through university. NEASC consists of six commissions, each of which sets the standards for a particular segment of the educational community. Website www.neasc.org

NCCT – The National Centre for School Curriculum and Textbook Development is so far the only accreditation-related agency approved by the Ministry of Education, and it is the only Chinese agency providing school accreditation in mainland China. NCCT is engaged in nation-wide study, development and assessment of school curricula, textbooks and related professional work.

YCIS Qingdao is also authorised as a Cambridge International Examination Centre (CIE). Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. It is recognised by leading universities and employers worldwide, and is an international passport to progression and success.

YCIS Qingdao is accredited also as an International Baccalaureate World School (IB). This allows YCIS Qingdao to offer the IB Diploma. The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
