    Welcome!

    Welcome

Year level and programme placement of students at YCIS is based on several factors, including: academic performance, English language proficiency, skill development, prior years of schooling, social development, date of birth, and learning needs.

In addition to reviewing previous school records, admissions assessments may include a one-on-one meeting or interview, a written placement test, an external assessment (for children with significant learning needs), and/or an online English language evaluation. Following assessment, the school will determine the appropriate year level and programme for your child.

When assessing applications and arranging classes, we aim to sustain a multicultural environment and balanced student community.

We admit students who we believe will benefit positively from the educational programmes we provide at YCIS. To be admitted, students must be able to access the regular curriculum without the need for services beyond our Learning Support and other available programmes and services.

When a year level becomes full, we will maintain a waiting pool of applicants. Children with enrolled siblings at YCIS receive priority in the admissions process.

YCIS Network of Schools - Internal Transfer

All YCIS schools operate under the same educational philosophy, pedagogy, and curriculum. We understand expatriate families sometimes need to be relocated around the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong SAR in particular, so we make it very convenient for enrolled students to transfer (not requiring the normal application process or fee) to any school in our network. YCIS locations include: Hong Kong SAR, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, and Qingdao (in China), and Silicon Valley (in the US).

Internal transfer applicants need to meet the eligibility requirements of the local government and will be assessed for admission and placement.
