In order to assist international families in our Yew Chung International School community, we have been offering free weekly Chinese language classes, taught by YCIS secondary teacher, Lisa Bruno. First semester, the class focused on everyday life topics such as going to restaurants and the supermarket, culminating in a fun language scavenger hunt activity at a local supermarket. We also learned about some software and other useful tools for studying the language. This semester, we are focusing on building a foundation in learning to write Chinese characters. The goal is to equip participants in reading basic signs around town and typing in Chinese.
