Year 10 and 11 Arts students were scheduled to visit Zhongshan Park on 20thSeptember, but unfortunately the weather had other ideas. As the rain poured down heavily on the way to our venue, it was evident that the weather was showing little sign of improvement. With this in mind, we altered the trip location to MixC mall. This venue still allowed students to collate primary research relating to their chosen topics, while keeping them dry. Students were given one hour to collect at least ten primary images which they would use to create art later in the day. After enjoying a meal, students started to produce artwork from their photographs using the art materials we brought from school. On return to YCIS Qingdao, one student asked, “Why can’t we have Art everyday outside the classroom?’It was very clear that, even though the weather was not on our side, it did not stop the students from learning and enjoying themselves.
