    YCIS Qingdao Lunar New Year Celebration

      Yew Chung International community embraces the lunar new year with traditional song and dance. We wish you a happy lunar new year!


      Chinese pastry, handwork, calligraphy, cast pot, yangko dance and imperial examination were on display, which started thousands of years ago, in ancient China. Traditional Chinese culture pervaded every corner of the modern world. Students from thirty different nationalities showed their full admiration of all those Chinese traditions.


      “Fu” has become a symbol of the Spring Festival, signifying people’s yearning for a happy life, and a wish for a better future. Not only did the students learn about this traditional Lunar New Year celebration, but they also learnt calligraphy.


      For the past five thousand years, lots of mythical and well-known historical beings made contributions to Chinese culture.


      Students dressed up as 12 Zodiacs signs and acted out the natural symbols of the Zodiacs vividly.


      There are fifty-six ethnic groups in China, but each different group has their different local customs. When the day comes, different people celebrate lunar new year according to their own ethnic traditions, showing their own highly cultural and spiritual richness.


      Chinese traditional culture is extensive and profound, it is unique, and occupies an influential position in the world culture. Through experiencing celebrations of Chinese New Year, children gain a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture.


      As a truly international education community, many students, teachers and parents from different nationalities participated in the performances.
