This year, YCIS Qingdao's annual Chinese New Year celebration fell on January 19.
During the morning, students took part in various Chinese cultural activities, which are always popular every year. As 2017 is the Year of the Rooster, students took part in rooster-themed crafts and games. Additionally, students made wontons and Chinese pastries as delicious morning snacks.
In the afternoon, students performed on stage for parents and teachers. Performances ranged from traditional Chinese songs and dance to contemporary pieces.
Year 10 and Year 11 students brought us a performance called “Basketball Fashion”, which combined dance and basketball, gaining bursts of applause.
The long-sleeved dance “Seek the Plum Blossom” by the girls in Years 7-9 was beautiful.
The dance “Paper Cut Dolls” performed by Primary students featured blessings for the new year.
ECE children gave a performance called “Chicken Dance” that brought cheers from the audience.
As this year is the 10th anniversary of YCIS Qingdao, performances also paid tribute to our 10-year history. Our 10-year-old students, who were born the same year YCIS Qingdao opened, said their blessings to the School before the camera.
Parents and Year 12 students also presented a gift to the School in the form of a truly memorable music performance.
This year's Chinese New Year Celebration Day was made possible through the creative ideas of our students, teachers and parents. Thank you everyone for taking part in this wonderful celebration of YCIS and the Year of the Rooster!
