YCIS Qingdao is committed to providing students with the highest quality international education. As global university admission needs become increasingly diverse, we continuously optimise our curriculum system to meet the academic development requirements of different students. Starting in the 2025-26 academic year, YCIS Qingdao will officially introduce the internationally recognised A Level programme, forming a "IGCSE + IBDP/A Level Dual-Track" high school curriculum system. This will provide students in Years 10-13 with a more flexible and personalised pathway to higher education.

    Why Choose A Level?

A Level (General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) is a British national curriculum programme for senior high school students and one of the most widely recognised international curricula globally, accepted by universities in over 160 countries and regions.

The A Level programme is typically a two-year course, divided into AS-Level (Year 1) and A2-Level (Year 2). In the first year (AS), students select 4 subjects they excel in and are passionate about. In the second year (A2), they continue studying their top 3 or 4 AS subjects, earning an A Level certificate upon passing the examinations.

With its high academic standards and rigorous assessment system, A Level is globally respected and holds a dominant position in Commonwealth education systems, including the UK, Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong (China). Additionally, Top 50 U.S. universities (e.g., Harvard, Yale, Stanford) accept A Level results and may grant course credits.

    A Level or IBDP?

A Level Program: Students demonstrate strong subject proficiency, excelling in their specialised fields with solid academic foundations and deep expertise. They possess clear goals for their future majors.

IB Program: Students exhibit well-rounded development, achieving academic excellence while showcasing outstanding interdisciplinary skills and comprehensive competencies. They integrate and apply knowledge across disciplines, demonstrating strong logical thinking and innovative awareness.

At Yew Chung International School of Qingdao, we believe education should never be a one-size-fits-all mold, but rather the kindling that ignites the unique spark within every individual.

Our dual-track curriculum system is meticulously crafted like an interchange for children's futures - where the expansive horizons of IBDP open windows to global perspectives for interdisciplinary thinkers, while the specialized depth of A Level allows purpose-driven students to gallop freely in their fields of excellence.

Here, there exists no "best" curriculum, only the choice that fits each learner perfectly, like a key to their own potential.
