    🔥 YCYW EDUCATIONAL LECTURE SERIES - 25/26 LECTURE 11

Topic: From Blue Light to Starlight: Reclaiming Wonder in a Digital Age

Every evening, countless blue screens light up, and the world is compressed into a six-inch glass screen. But when we step outside and look up at the sky that once guided navigators, we realise that the universe is the ultimate antidote to ‘digital dopamine’.

On 2 April, we are honoured to welcome Dr Lin Qing as a guest speaker for the YCYW Education Lecture Series.

Dr Lin Qing is not merely an astronomer—he is the man who has brought the universe closer to tens of millions of Chinese families. He is a rare figure who bridges the three fields of cutting-edge research, science education and cultural outreach, and for decades has been dedicated to making the vast cosmos accessible, exciting and imbued with a human touch.

      Sneak Peek at Lecture Highlights:

      • The Ultimate Antidote to ‘Digital Dopamine’: This lecture will explore how to harness our natural instincts to build a powerful defence against addiction to electronic devices, helping children reshape their neural pathways and cultivate patience, sustained focus, and a sense of wonder that no app can replicate.
      • The Gateway to All Knowledge: Dr Lin will explain how the universe seamlessly connects the rigour of science with the romance of the humanities—from the physical laws governing meteorites to the philosophical questions posed in Liu Cixin’s The Three-Body Problem, and from ancient Chinese star charts to the engineering marvel of the James Webb Space Telescope.
      • Parents and Children Together: This lecture is a call to action for parents, reminding us that education is not the sole responsibility of schools, but a lifelong adventure.

This is not merely an introduction to astronomy, but a profound exploration of ‘interdisciplinary thinking’ and ‘parent-child learning’. Dr Lin will explain how we can harness our curiosity about the universe to help children rebuild their focus, transforming education into a lifelong adventure.
